Spica Week 4: Daddy Saves the Day

No one wants to hear the words flu and pneumonia when you finally drag your sorry self to the doctor. I had been struggling big time with taking care of the kids and myself while feeling so ill. After my doctor’s visit, Kyle generously took off one day this week to watch the kids. I woke up that morning, nursed Londyn around 8 am, and then was able to go back to bed, and didn’t wake up until almost 12! Meanwhile Kyle took the kids out to a mall a half hour away, let Grayson play in the play-place, even changed Londyn’s diaper in her spica cast in the mall! I called him while he was on the way home to see if he wanted me to get Grayson’s lunch out and he replied- “No, he’s good- I packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for him which he ate, and he had some smoothie and pretzels.” WHOA I was so impressed. A solo outing with two kids, one of which is in a spica cast, and he did diaper changes AND lunch?! Stop making my stay at home mom job look so easy.

Londyn has been totally content despite her cast, and doing many of the same things she did pre-cast. She likes tummy time with a large pillow under her chest, she likes to lie flat on her back, and she loves to sit up in her spica chair. She’s even starting to sleep better. I was filling out her baby calendar for this month and felt a little bummed at all the milestone stickers we haven’t used yet. “Crawls”, “Pulls up”, “Stands Alone”, etc. But her time will come for those. She has been delighting us with all the new sounds she’s making, “da-da, ba-ba, ya-ya”, etc. She also has started doing this adorable reaching out for you when you walk by which I love! So we’re moving along in our spica journey, slowly but surely.
