"It is comforting to know that after going through our hip journey, as a family we can get through anything life throws at us. It has made us a stronger unit. Quinn is capable of anything."

"Only another hippy family can truly get what you're going through so join a support group, even if it's just online."

"Do Not let this journey stop you from living life. You will have to adjust, as will your child, but the experience has taught me patience and understanding."

"I learned how capable we, as a family, are of handling challenges. This was very unexpected and new territory, but my husband and I stepped up to the plate and got through every day for our daughter. We're capable of more than we knew."

"It only took 3 days and James was already unbothered by the cast! He loves music, and watching him bang his hands on his cast and still try to dance by rocking his upper body back and forth with a huge smile warmed our hearts!"

"The time in the cast went by quickly, it was easier than we thought it would be, and it definitely grew us in our faith to trust that God was working everything out for the good of all of us!"

"You will cry out of sadness and frustration and will look at your child and think, 'how can they possibly be happy like this?' But they are, and catch onto their infectious smiles and giggles and make them your own."

"After having two girls with hip dysplasia both diagnosed at different ages, Summer was in the cast at 3 years and Daisy was in the cast from 6 months. Early diagnosis is key."

What do you wish you knew: "This will be a long haul. I did a lot of research ahead of time so felt pretty well prepared with supplies, furniture, etc. Kids are incredibly resilient and this is so much harder on the parents than it is on them!"

"Hang in there and keep your head up. Your little one is going to be much better off and things could always be much worse. Time goes by way faster than you think, and it won't be long before you're over this and on to helping someone else out that is now in your same situation!"

"Throw out the milestone charts and get rid of the apps that tell you where your baby 'should be' at this point, because your child will overcome obstacles much earlier than most others. And when your child is out of that cast, the first time they crawl or walk will be even sweeter, even more special than you could ever have imagined... Have faith. You and your child are much stronger than you realize."
